Ruby Driedger is a Member at Large for Component 4. "I started to become an activist when I was a university student taking political science. I was elected in the student government body and became an advocate for social change. The one closest to my heart is children rights' advocacy. In the Philippines, there are so many children who are underage who work to support their family and are not privileged to go to school due to poverty. I started a foundation called "Be a Blessing Project" that caters to children in remote areas through a feeding program and providing school supplies to encourage children to go to school. I believe that education is the pathway to end poverty.
"I started with BCGEU as a member of the bargaining committee. In May of this year, my team and I negotiated our first Collective Agreement. I have met a lot of amazing people in BCGEU and became more involved. I am currently a Member at Large at the local executive and an OHS representative. I am looking forward for more opportunities to empower others to step up and make a difference."
