The BC Government & Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) is offering Joint Occupational Health & Safety  courses for the private sector (non-government).

These courses would be “jointly” offered.  The Union will provide the instructor, course material and facilities, and the Employer pays for wages (as per Worker’s Compensation Act) for OSH Committee representatives to attend and participate.  Members of the joint committee are entitled to annual educational leave to be paid by the Employer under WCA, Section 135 - Educational Leave, and according to BCGEU Collective Agreements, Article 22 - Occupational Health and Safety.

We are offering two separate one-day training sessions (see enclosed descriptions); Basic Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee Course which is being held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 and Investigations which is being held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.  For those interested in registering for one or both of these courses, please complete the enclosed registration form and return via facsimile. Note, in order to attend the 2nd day training session, you must have previously attended the 1 day Non-Government Joint OH&S Committee Course.

Please note:  We must receive your registration no later than Wednesday, October 15, 2014.

If we do not have enough registrations, the sessions may be cancelled and another training session will not be held until late Spring/early Summer.
