You are invited to an afternoon with Dr. Cindy Blackstock, First Nations Child and Family Caring Society, and BC Representative for Children and Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond.
This forum is being hosted by the union to raise awareness about our Choose Children campaign and the issues facing vulnerable children and families in British Columbia.
Our goal is to bring together workers, service providers, and leaders, to find ways in which we can work together to better serve our most vulnerable population.
Seats are limited. Please RSVP to Keith Cameron by email or at 1-888-991-6062 by no later than November 12.
Dr. Blackstock has spent many years doing extensive research in the area of First Nations child welfare. She is also an associate professor at the University of Alberta and has over 25 years of experience in the field of social work and the author of over 50 publications.
Ms. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond is the British Columbia's Representative for Children and Youth which provides supports to children, youth and families dealing with the child welfare system, as well as oversight to the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Her work as the representative for children and youth also advocates for improvements to the child welfare system.
