An Evening on Mental Health

BCGEU members in the Fraser Valley are invited to join us for a special evening to discuss the very important topic of mental heath.

Our guest speaker is Dr. Kerry Jang, a UBC psychiatry professor and Vancouver city councillor. Dr. Jang will present a one-hour session on mental health disorders providing an overview of disorders with a focus on personality disorders. In addition, he will facilitate a session on how to be proactive with our own mental health, coupled with the signs, symptoms and active treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Attendees can expect to learn valuable information and active strategies on how to deal with our clients, members and themselves.

About Dr. Kerry Jang

Dr. Kerry Jang is a professor of psychiatry at the University of British Columbia where he teaches and conducts research on the causes of mental illness. Dr. Jang also serves on Vancouver city council. He was first elected to council in 2008 and re-elected in 2011 and 2014.

Dr. Jang served on the Mental Health Commission of Canada, where he was appointed to the Mental Health and Law Advisory Committee whose national policy work directly impacts policing, corrections, housing standards, and management for areas like the Downtown Eastside across the city.
