BCGEU members in the Retail Stores and Warehouse Component operate the provincial government's retail liquor stores and related warehouse operations. Specific classifications include: assistant manager, assistant shipper, concession clerk, foreman, manager, shipper, store clerk and warehouse worker.

BCGEU members have ratified the 16th Master Agreement, which was concluded September 27 in Victoria after a marathon bargaining session.

The union has received some sharp criticism from members regarding reimbursement of professional fees. Our agreement with government changed this fee schedule from 2005 to 2009.

The decision by the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) to close two public liquor stores in Coquitlam and Burnaby as part of a plan to open a new Signature store on North Road violates the government’s own Service Plan and removes retail options for local residents, the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union said today.

The ballots for the recent election of the Local 503 Secretary Treasurer were counted and announced today.

The successful candidate is John Ames.
