Component 20 - Environmental Technical and Operational

Component 20 represents government employees engaged in engineering support and inspectional duties at the technical level, as well as members charged with protecting and regulating natural resources or ensuring the quality of the environment. These positions normally require advanced technical knowledge of the related resource. They include biologists, design engineers, conservation officers, laboratory workers, scientific/technical officers, inspectors and planning officers.

The BCGEU and two bargaining associations have reached tentative agreements for 25,000 BCGEU members who work for direct government, 15,000 members in the community health subsector and 11,000 members in community social services.
