Component 10 - Operational Services

Most members of Component 10 work for private corporations, contracted by the government to maintain provincial highways and bridges. The component includes members engaged in highway maintenance, small private ferries, some municipal governments and other private companies connected with technical services.

Following two long days at the bargaining table, on November 4th and 5th, the parties failed to reach an agreement late last Thursday evening.

Job Action could spread to fifth region

B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) highway workers in the Kootenay Boundary region have given their bargaining committee an overwhelming strike mandate.

The vote was conducted on Friday June 1 with 95% of members endorsing strike action.
