Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) bargaining update

July 22, 2014

Your BCGEU Bargaining Committee developed our bargaining proposals based on the results from your responses to the Bargaining Surveys and after a careful review of the collective agreement. We met with the Employer on July 14, 15 and 16, 2014. We had a very productive three days and completed negotiations on the non-monetary proposals with a few exceptions. We tabled our monetary proposals and will go back to the table to continue negotiations on August 19-22, 2014. So far, the tone of negotiations has been positive and consequently the parties were able to agree to many positive changes to the collective agreement that may form part of a tentative agreement. Should the parties be successful in reaching a final tentative agreement, the Union will provide you with a ratification bulletin detailing any and all proposed changes for you to vote on before any changes are implemented. We will continue to be focused on the mandate you provided us in the bargaining surveys and we will provide further updates as we move through negotiations.

We appreciate your continued support for your BCGEU Bargaining Committee.

In solidarity

Your BCGEU Bargaining Committee,

Lori Strom, BCGEU Negotiator
