Re: Bargaining Update – Strike Notice
After receiving a 100% strike mandate from the members your committee returned to the bargaining table on March 20th. The Committee canvassed all of the outstanding issues with the Employer. We regret to say that the Employer did not withdraw their demand for concessions. The members were clear that the Employer's present offer is unacceptable.
In response to the employer's unwillingness to amend their proposal your bargaining committee served seventy-two (72) hour strike notice at Noon today. (March 27, 2014)
Serving strike notice does not mean that there will be strike action after 72 hours. There are no plans for any strike activity at this time.
We are scheduled to return to the bargaining table on April 9th and 10th and are determined to successfully negotiate a collective agreement that will be acceptable to the members.
Please watch your email for further updates.
