May 11, 2009

Members of the BC Government and Service Employees' Union who work in Kamloops area branches of the Interior Savings Credit Union have voted 96 percent in favour of a new collective agreement.

The new three year agreement gives workers a total 7.75 percent wage increase over the life of the contract (2.75 percent in both the first and second years, and 2.25 percent in the third year). Members also receive a signing bonus.

"Along with these wage increases, our union is pleased to have negotiated increased benefits, greater professional development support, and stronger language around the hiring process," says BCGEU president Darryl Walker.

The BCGEU represents 75 members at Interior Savings Credit Union who work as tellers, member information officers, financial services representatives, account managers, and systems support technicians.
