BC Safety Authority strike votes passes by 82 per cent

June 12, 2012

Members of the BCGEU at BC Safety Authority have voted in support of job action.

The vote was 82 per cent in favour.

“We’re very happy our members have given us a strong strike mandate to take back to the bargaining table,” said BCGEU President Darryl Walker. “If the Authority doesn’t move on its proposals, we’ll be forced to consider job action.”

The BCGEU announced the strike vote in early May, following four months of negotiations and reaching impasse with the Employer on a number of key areas, including a fair & reasonable wage proposal.

Your Bargaining Committee will be contacting the Employer in an effort to return to the table and  negotiate an acceptable collective agreement.
